Forrest Chenin Blanc 2009
Marlborough is often too cool for Chenin Blanc, but this year our home vineyard Chenin Blanc benefited from the above average temperatures and dry conditions; allowing this very late ripening varietal to reach full ripeness and bringing its naturally high acid into balance. The low rainfall concentrated the flavors, and we hand-harvested perfectly healthy grapes. A rare treat.

Tasting Notes
Our third Chenin Blanc since the 2001 vintage, and the only example of this varietal in Marlborough. Made in the traditional Forrest medium-dry style inspired by the Loire Valley, with 13grams/litre of residual sugar. An elegant wine to taste now with extended lees contact, aromas of quince, straw & lanoline, with flavours of peach and nectarine. The 2001 is just beginning to reach its peak as I write, and it is so good that I decided to take the last few remaining cases off the market for my own cellar.
